Revelation 21:1-5
(Revelation
21:1-5)
And I saw a new heaven and a new
earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was
no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God
out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great
voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he
will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be
with them, and be their God. And
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more
death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for
the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne
said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these
words are true and faithful.
Regarding the
new heaven and the new earth, many church people simply think that this world
in which humans live after the creation of the heavens and earth has been
polluted and corrupted, so it is no longer a place to live. . There is no
problem if the perfect God says that he will make it perfect even in this
polluted world. It is entirely human thought to think that the world is
corrupted and polluted that it needs a new heaven and a new earth.
In the Bible,
there are two places in the book of Isaiah and Revelation about the new heaven
and the new earth. We need to know the difference between the new heaven and
the new earth, which are said in two places. The new heavens and new earth in
Isaiah 65:17 mean this earth like the kingdom of God, not a world that is
recreated. It is a country related to the sovereignty of who governs. It means
the millennial kingdom in the book of Revelation ruled by the Messiah, not the
country ruled by Satan. The kingdom ruled by the Messiah is a kingdom of
perfection. And the new heaven and new earth in Revelation 21:1 refers to the
eternal kingdom of God in 2 Peter 3:10, where this world is burned out by fire
and appears anew. But, why did the prophet Isaiah use the words of a new heaven
and a new earth?
In Isaiah
61:1-2, it is said that Christ is trying to preach the acceptable year of the
LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God. The acceptable year of the LORD
means the period of preaching the Gospel to the Gentiles (the period between
the start of 69 and 70 weeks). The day of vengeance of our God means the period
of the great tribulation (a period of one week, 70 weeks). In this way,
speaking of the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our
God, the Bible is said to be a new heaven and a new earth in the sense of
trying to explain what will happen through the coming first advent of Jesus
Christ, not the distant future.
However, the
new heaven and new earth that Peter describes in 2 Peter 3:10-13 describes what
will happen after Jesus' Second Coming. Old Testament prophets are focused on
Jesus' first coming, and Jesus' disciples are focused on Jesus' second coming.
Regarding the
new heaven and the new earth, which is said in the book of Revelation, we
cannot understand without knowing the meaning of Genesis 1:1. While Jesus is
praying, in John 17:11-23, there is a message saying, "Let them be one
like us, just as the Father and I are one." Ephesians 1:10 says,
"That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together
in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth;
even in him: 』. The reason to make men God's
children by receiving forgiveness of sins and salvation in Jesus Christ is to
make all things in heaven and on earth become one.
The word “become one” does not mean that the body
becomes one, but that it is one in the way the spirits exist. How can you
understand the phrase “in God there is Jesus Christ,
and in Jesus Christ there is God”? All beings with
flesh cannot be understood, but only in the Holy Spirit. Being one in the work
of the Holy Spirit is that the human spirit works in Christ (God) and Christ
(God) works in the human spirit. When we become one in the Holy Spirit, we can
understand the way God exists.
This is how
God, Jesus Christ, and humans who are sealed by the Holy Spirit become one
through the work of the Holy Spirit. This means that when the Holy Spirit
completely enters humans, it completely enters into God's rule. Likewise, the
reason that the new heaven and the new earth become one (to be unified) is
because they were originally one. In Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning,
heaven and earth were created", the heavens are the kingdom of God, and
the earth is the material world separated from the kingdom of God in order to
confine the angels who have sinned from the kingdom of God. At the end of the
end, the land of the finite material world disappears and becomes the land of
the complete kingdom of God. The new earth becomes the kingdom of God in which
perfect communion with God occurs.
